New York Botanical Gardens (NYBG) Summer break camps

New York Botanical Gardens is one of the cool plant-based summer camps in New York City. They host a plethora of camps in all shapes and sizes. Some of their offerings encompass three-week sessions, while others are only four days. The campus is 250 acres and there’s lots of room for students to discover the world through nature exploration, group tasks, art activities, and so forth. There are options for students in grades K-8 and various discounts are available.

Queens Botanical Garden camp

Queens Botanical Garden camp is for children between the ages of 2 and 14. During the school year, QBG offers similar programs in the spring and fall. However, during summertime, there is summer camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the option to extend to 5:30 p.m. Themes are anchored in three main areas: forest exploration, gardening, and junior naturalists. Family membership offers discounted prices for camp.

Brooklyn Childrens' Museum camp

This summer camp in New York City (in July and August) is free to students who are entering grade 1-6 in the fall. Camp slots are determined via a lottery and students who participate will receive breakfast and lunch on-site. Your children will get to participate in several field trips throughout the summer and they will explore science, culture, and art through the lens of the specimens in the museum.

NYC parks

The NYC Parks Summer Day Camp program occurs from early July until late August and is open to students between the ages of 6 and 13. Activities include outdoor sports such as canoeing and fishing, as well as indoor activities that explore STEAM topics. There are nearly 20 locations throughout all of New York City. Participation is dependent on a lottery and tuition is $500 for seven weeks.

A coed camp, it’s open to kids between the ages of 7 and 17.

Camp Seneca Lake

Camp Seneca Lake is run by the JCC of Greater Rochester and welcomes students entering grades 3 through 11. This sleepaway camp in New York, located in the Finger Lakes region, has been serving campers for 90 years on their 200 acre expanse. Campers can expect to leave with greater anchoring in their Jewish identity and stronger commitment to Jewish values. Days begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and end with a snack by 9:00 p.m. In-between, campers participate in selected activities.

Camp Echo

Camp Echo is located about 90 minutes outside of New York City. Everything about this sleepaway camp in New York is designed around community and being comfortable. Cabins are organized by interests and campers have opportunities to visit camp before the first bus ride to camp. Campers make their own cabin rules for the sessions, with the guidance of the cabin counselors. Every day has a rough schedule with lots of free time. Your kids will love the freedom of Camp Echo.

Camp Eagle Hill

Camp Eagle Hill is one of many summer camps in New York state that offers overnight camp options. Located just ninety miles outside of New York City in the Berkshire Mountains.
